How lending works

List pieces from your own wardrobe, answer requests, post them out clean and on time, and get paid once they're back.

Updated 6 October 2026

You can rent out the pieces you own and don't wear every week. Renters ask for dates, you say yes or no, and you're paid once the piece comes back.

The short version: send it clean and on time, put a return satchel in with it, photograph it both ways, and the payout follows.

From your wardrobe to your first rental

  1. Add your pieces. Anyone can add pieces to their wardrobe. They stay hidden until you're accepted to lend and set up.
  2. Ask to lend. Lending opens by request while we launch. See Become a lender.
  3. Finish your setup. Once you're in, connect payouts, add your lending address and verify your identity. Then your wardrobe goes live.
  4. Answer requests. You have 2 days to accept or decline, or until the rental starts if that comes first.
  5. Send it. Post it so it arrives by the start date, or hand it over if you offer pickup.
  6. Get it back. Mark it as received, check it over and close the booking. Your payout follows.

Your part

  • Cleaning is yours. Clean each piece between rentals. Don't ask the renter to wash it.
  • Describe it honestly. Note any wear, flaws or damage in the listing.
  • Use tracked shipping, and include a prepaid return satchel whenever the renter is posting it back.
  • Photograph it both ways. Before it goes out and as soon as it comes back. Dated photos decide disputes.
  • Keep your calendar right. Going away? Set a break so no one books dates you can't do.
  • Tax is yours. Ourfit reports lender earnings to the ATO under the Sharing Economy Reporting Regime.

If something goes wrong

If a piece comes back damaged, report it through the booking within 2 days of it arriving back, with clear photos. After 7 days past the return date, a piece that hasn't come back is treated as not returned. See Damage and disputes.
