Safety and trust

The standards everyone agrees to, how to report a piece or a person, and how a card on file and the cap protect both sides without a deposit or insurance.

Updated 6 October 2026

Every rental runs through Ourfit: the request, the payment, the messages and any claim. That's what lets us step in when something goes wrong.

Community standards

  • Be straight with people, and describe pieces honestly, wear and all.
  • No harassment, discrimination, counterfeit pieces or anything unlawful.
  • Keep bookings and payments on Ourfit once you've met here.
  • Reviews are your real experience. No false reviews, and no offering anything in return for one.

Breaking these can cost you your account.

Report a piece or a person

  • A piece. On the piece, press Report this fit, below the details. Choose a Reason, Add details if you like, and press Send report.
  • A person. On their profile, open the menu at the top and choose Report with their username. Block is there too.
  • A conversation. Tap their name at the top of the conversation. Under Safety, press Report or Block.

The other person isn't told you reported them. Ourfit reviews every report and can remove a listing or suspend an account.

If you think a piece is counterfeit, don't book it. Report it instead.

A lender who keeps letting people down

Tell us, and leave an honest review. We look at reviews, cancellations and reports together. Lenders who cancel often get a reminder from us first, then a pause on new bookings until we've talked.

A card on file, not a deposit

Nothing is held upfront and no deposit is taken. You save a card when you book, and it can only be charged if the lender raises a claim for damage, a late return or a piece that never came back, and only after you agree or Ourfit decides.

The most you can be charged is the cap shown before you authorise your card:

  • The piece's retail price (RRP), where the listing has one.
  • Where there's no RRP, such as vintage or one-off pieces, 5 times the piece's 4-day rental price, up to $1,500.

The cap is locked in when you authorise. A lender editing the listing later can't raise it. It isn't a cap on everything you could owe under the Terms.

Insurance and high-value pieces

Ourfit doesn't insure pieces. Cover comes from the renter's saved card, up to the cap, through the claims process, and only as far as that card can be charged.

If you lend, always record the RRP. It's the ceiling the renter agrees to, and without one the ceiling is usually well below what a piece is worth to replace. Set it before you accept a booking. For very valuable pieces, consider your own insurance, and don't list anything you're not comfortable carrying that risk on.

What ID verified means

When a profile says ID verified, it means an identity check was completed. It isn't an endorsement of the person or a guarantee about a piece.
